Warhorse

November 3, 2008

Warhorse are back after a 1 year hiatus and to be honest I’d never heard of them 1 year ago, but then again I hadn’t heard of a lot things. I was recommended to check this band out and they are really quite good with an interesting mix of garage and psychedelic rock that doesn’t sound tired or generic. Led by brothers Jasper (Vocals) and Oscar Clifford Smith (Guitar) they manage to keep things fresh and have that sort of Australian quality that is way too hard for me to define.

“Skeletor” opens with a sexy guitar lick that could be channelling Anton Newcombe and morphs into a muddy, bass heavy garage pop song. The guitar is tight and doesn’t let up. The chorus is surprisingly big and the whole thing is damn loud and would probably sound even better live. It’s catchy, raw and explosive.I wouldn’t be surprised to see these guys make their way onto the festival circut in the future so check them out at the below venues first instead.
