V Festival lineup announced

November 18, 2008

Yet another music festival announcement. This time it is for the Richard Branson extravaganza that is known as The V Festival. I have to say, with initial rumours of The Verve and Portishead, it looked that 2009’s festival would be somewhat excitingly great yet again.

Unfortunately, it’s a major letdown:

The Killers
Snow Patrol
Kaiser Chiefs
Elbow
Duffy
Louis XIV
The Dø
Tame Impala
The Temper Trap
Canyons

The only bands that interest me in that list are The Dø and Louis XIV (and Canyons as well, but they’re a local band and I can see the anytime), so I think I will put that money away for sideshows. Hopefully there may be a few more enticing stuff in forthcoming announcements though.

Tickets officially go on sale on Friday, November 28 but presale tickets can be bought at Virgin Mobile stores from tomorrow (yeah that’s right, Virgin Mobile stores. Richard – you seem to love getting that plug in every which way don’t you).

It’s all taking place at:

Centennial Park, Sydney – March 28, 2009
Avica Resort, Gold Coast – March 29, 2009
Melbourne Showgrounds, Melbourne – April 4, 2009 and
Claremont Showgrounds, Perth – April 5, 2009
