The Red Tree – new single “Ziah”

May 21, 2009

ZIAH_cover The Red Tree is a trio from Melbourne, creating light, delicate and atmospheric pop songs with soft vocals and synthesizers. They have just released the single ‘Ziah’ on the 5th of May. To be honest, it’s not particularly my sort of thing, but it is pretty good and I think if you dug both Yellow Ostrich and Parades who Nick and I blogged about a few months ago, you will really dig this. ‘Ziah’ is a somewhat melancholy number, definitely fitting of some sort of film score or the like. It’s a pretty song, and the vocals are gentle and inviting, with electronic undertones running throughout. It will be interesting to see the transformation of this live, something I am pretty curious to see.

The band have a launch for the single on the 18th of June, at the Northcote Social Club, with their debut album due for release sometime the same month, titled I Am Not A Bird.

You can listen to ‘Ziah’ on their MySpace here!
