The Drones – Live at the Hi-Fi

October 9, 2009

The Drones are known for their ferocious live performances, and off of the back of their somewhat recent album tour, the band has released a limited edition live bonus disc with the repackaged Havilah, their most recent LP, recorded at the newly opened Hi-Fi in Brisbane.

To those who have witnessed the emotive, powerful experience of a Drones live performance can relive the moment, while those who are yet to have the privilege are given a snapshot as to what this band is all about. Liddiard’s lyrics come to life, the guitar riffs and rolling drums take on a brutality, a memorable spectacular the band has been sharing with the rest of the world for the last 6 months.

The live release contains tracks from all across the bands career such as a blistering ‘Minotaur’ from their 2008 release and ‘Sixteen Straws’ from 2006’s Gala Mill, as well as their mind-shattering cover of Kev Carmody’s “’River of Tears’. Even if you already own Havilah, the price of buying the album is well worth it for the this live disc alone.

I just saw The Drones live in Berlin.. After the somewhat new album, (Its been six months – is it still considered new?), they really have a nice arsenal to indulge in.. Onstage banter is ironic.. A must..
